Practical logistics for shooting in Queens
Travel from our DUMBO base. We're at 68 Jay St in Brooklyn, about 20–30 minutes to Astoria and LIC and a direct run to Flushing, Forest Hills, and Jamaica. Being close means less time billed to transit and easier day-of coordination.
Permits and insurance for public spaces. Filming on Queens streets, in parks like Flushing Meadows Corona Park or Gantry Plaza State Park, and on other public property generally requires a permit and proof of insurance—city film permits for streets and sidewalks, and separate approval for state and city parks. Private venues, offices, and event halls usually don't need a city permit, but many require a certificate of insurance naming the venue. We carry professional insurance and can provide a COI; tell us the venue early so we can sort paperwork before the shoot date.
Drone airspace near the airports. Much of Queens sits under controlled airspace for JFK and LaGuardia, which restricts drone flights. Our pilots are FAA-licensed and handle authorization where it's possible, but some locations simply won't clear—so flag drone needs up front and we'll tell you honestly what's flyable.
Loading and parking. Gear moves faster with a plan. In dense areas like Jackson Heights, Flushing, and parts of Astoria, we identify loading zones and parking ahead of time; LIC towers and banquet halls often have loading docks or nearby lots. - Shoot day. Our crew arrives early, sets cameras, lighting, and audio, and captures the day.
