Neighborhoods and venues we know in Manhattan

Manhattan is really a dozen shooting environments stacked on one island, and each one changes how a crew has to work.

Midtown. This is where most corporate work lives. We have filmed the NASDAQ MarketSite segment in Times Square, at Rockefeller Center (a proposal video at the ice rink), and at 150 East 42nd St for a State of Entrepreneurship panel. We have also worked at 512 W 42nd St (42 D'or) for UpMixxer events and at Ocean Prime for a CEO dinner. Midtown means tight sidewalks, strict lobby security and freight-elevator windows you book in advance.

Financial District (FiDi). Corporate HQs, trading-floor backdrops and rooftop networking events. Buildings here run their own COI (certificate of insurance) and loading-dock rules; we build that into scheduling.

SoHo. Retail and brand activations. We filmed an in-store shopping experience at the MAC Cosmetics SoHo store with the National Black MBA Association. Cast-iron streets are photogenic but cobblestones and narrow doorways matter for cart and gear moves.

Chelsea and Hudson Yards. Galleries, event spaces, showrooms and the newer towers on the far West Side. Good for brand films and product work, with modern loading infrastructure in the Hudson Yards buildings.

Harlem. We covered Harlem Fashion Week runway in 2023 and filmed a graduation at the Adam Clayton Powell Jr. State Office Building. Harlem gives you real architecture and street character that reads on camera.

Upper East and Upper West Side. Private clubs, brownstones and cultural institutions. We recorded podcasts at the University Club during UN General Assembly week. UES/UWS shoots are often interior and quieter, with residential-street parking to plan around.

Logistics that actually matter in Manhattan

Permits. Filming inside a private venue, office or hotel is governed by that building's rules, not a city permit — the venue's COI and load-in requirements are what you plan around. Shooting on public property (streets, sidewalks, parks) with equipment setups can require a permit from the Mayor's Office of Media and Entertainment; the specifics depend on your footprint. Tell us the exact location early and we will flag what's needed.

Insurance. As SHMONG TV LLC we carry the production insurance most Manhattan buildings ask for, and we can name a venue as additional insured on a certificate when required. Get us the building's COI request as soon as you have it, because approvals can take days.

Loading and parking. This is the real Manhattan variable. Freight elevators, loading docks and dock windows are often booked in advance, and street parking near a Midtown or FiDi tower is unpredictable. We travel light when a location demands it and schedule load-in around the building's dock hours.

Noise and light. Interiors give you control; exteriors do not. Times Square and open plazas are bright and loud, so we rely on wireless lavs for clean audio and shape our own light. Golden-hour rooftop shots need to be timed to the actual sunset that day.

Travel from our DUMBO base. We are at 68 Jay St in DUMBO, minutes from Lower Manhattan over the Brooklyn or Manhattan Bridge and a straightforward run up to Midtown. Being this close means early call times and same-day turnarounds are realistic.

Best hours and seasons. Corporate interiors can shoot any time of year. For exteriors, weekday mornings are calmer for street work, and late spring through early fall gives the longest usable daylight for rooftops and outdoor events.

2. Lock the date. A 50% deposit reserves your date. Bookings start at a $1,000 minimum with a 2-hour minimum on site.

3. Pre-production. We confirm the venue's COI and loading requirements, scout call times, and plan coverage — angles, audio, lighting and any drone permissions.

4. Shoot day. Our crew arrives ahead of call time to load in through the dock or lobby, set up, and film. We work around your program so we are not in the way of your event.

5. Delivery. Raw footage comes back in 24–48 hours. Finished edits land in 5–7 business days, with a 48-hour rush available. Two rounds of revisions are included.
