We keep our claims to facts, so here's the honest picture. SHMONG's home base is DUMBO, and much of our work sits just across the Harlem River in upper Manhattan and throughout the city. That matters for a Bronx booking because the event types are the same ones we shoot constantly — a gala, a graduation, a concert, a church program, a business testimonial — and the borough is a quick, familiar drive for our crew.

Logistics that actually matter here

Permits and insurance. Shooting on New York City streets, sidewalks or public property generally requires a free permit from the Mayor's Office of Media and Entertainment, which also sets the insurance requirement. City parks are handled separately through NYC Parks, and private grounds — the Bronx Zoo, the New York Botanical Garden, Wave Hill — run their own filming policies and fees. We carry professional insurance and can provide a certificate naming a venue as additional insured when it's needed. If your shoot is entirely inside a private venue you already have booked, a city permit usually isn't required.

Loading and parking. This varies wildly by neighborhood. City Island and Arthur Avenue have tight, busy streets where we plan load-in windows around foot traffic. The South Bronx and Hunts Point are easier for vehicle access. Around Yankee Stadium, avoid game days entirely for parking. Tell us the exact address and we'll scout access ahead of time.

Noise and light. Golden hour on the water at City Island or over the gardens in Riverdale is worth building a schedule around. Indoor church and banquet-hall events often mean mixed, low light — we bring our own pro lighting and wireless lavs so audio and picture hold up regardless of the room.

Drone. Our DJI drones fly with FAA-licensed pilots. Airspace over parts of the Bronx is restricted, particularly near LaGuardia across the water and around stadium airspace on event days, so we confirm we can legally fly your specific location before we commit to aerial coverage.

Travel from our DUMBO base. The Bronx is one of our regular runs. Depending on the neighborhood and traffic, plan on roughly 45 minutes to just over an hour of drive time each way; there's no travel surcharge inside the five boroughs. Weekday mornings and true off-peak windows are the friendliest for load-in.

Best hours and seasons. Late spring through early fall gives you the most usable daylight and the best outdoor conditions at City Island, the gardens and the waterfront. Gala and fundraiser season peaks in the fall. For anything with a sunset or exterior element, we schedule around the light, not the clock.

How a Bronx shoot works

The process is the same wherever you are in the borough:

1. Tell us the details. Send your date, location and what you need by email or through the form. We reply with a written quote within 24 hours — usually the same day.
2. Lock the date. A 50% deposit holds your slot. Bookings start at a $1,000 minimum with a 2-hour minimum on site.
3. Pre-production. We confirm access, parking and load-in, handle any permit or insurance certificate the location requires, and check drone airspace if you want aerials.
4. Shoot day. The crew arrives with 4K cinema cameras (RED and Sony FX), pro lighting, wireless lavs and gimbals, and works your event or location.
5. Delivery. Raw footage lands in your hands within 24–48 hours. Finished edits follow in 5–7 business days, with a 48-hour rush available when the deadline is tight. Two rounds of revisions are included.
